Spring Fever

Well we have had a busy, successful and exciting last few weeks!  Our cattle did phenomenally well in the San Antonio All breed sale Feb. 15th.  We placed Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Over All Females!  It was the first time in the history of the sale that the same breeder has ever won both.  We feel truly blessed and honored to claim those titles!  We had two pens receive blue ribbons in the Houston All breed sale Mar. 3rd and the cattle sold well.  We have to say that as exciting as it all was we are glad it has come to an end!

Now Spring fever has hit us!! We are airing up tires, greasing our digger and planter and fine tuning all of our equipment!  IT'S TIME FOR SPRIGGING!  Our hay fields are already greening up and we're hoping we don't get another freeze.  Spring is in the air and we are so ready for it!  We've had some nice substantial rain and it looks like we might have a wetter year this year.  It's not to late to call us to book your sprigging job.  God Bless you all and until next time......

Go Brangus!

Well, we had our ranch manager go out and inspect our sale cattle for San Antonio and he gave us a thumbs up!

We are just two weeks away from the 21st Annual San Antonio All Breed Sale. Go visit our website for all the sale information and for the list of cattle we have consigned. http://www.jasikhayfarms.com/page05.html

We have had some much needed rain here in South Texas and with this mild weather the grass is greening up already. If you were considering sprigging, with this rain now is a great time to prepare your land.  Give us a call and get on our sprigging list!

Come out and join us for what should be a great cattle sale Wednesday the 15th of February!!!

Time to Sprig!

Whether it's for graze land or you're wanting to raise hay for your own stock.  Now is the time to prepare for or begin your sprigging job.  We offer custom sprigging for any amount of acreage and all of our sprigs are irrigated and fertilized. We offer Coastal and Tiffton 85.

Coastal Bermuda grass is more drought and grazing tolerant than most grasses.  It also has a finer stem and leaf. Coastal Bermuda grass is an aggressive grower.  It does well in South Texas and the Coastal Bend area.

Tiffton 85 is a taller grass with a larger stem and broader leaf than other Bermuda grass hybrids. Tiffton 85 also tends to have a higher yield.  Here is a link that goes into more detail on the benefits of planting Tifton 85:  http://www.tifton.uga.edu/fat/tifton85.htm

Freshly dug sprigs are much more ideal for planting then tops or "clippings".  Growing conditions have to be much more favorable for the tops to succeed.
So, start getting your land prepared to improve your graze land with a quality Bermuda grass!

Gearing up for cattle sales!

Well it's that time of year again!  When hay season rolls to an end and we start focusing on our sale cattle.  The 21st Annual San Antonio All Breed sale is less than 45 days away.  We will be consigning some of our top females in that sale!  We have 20 Brangus pairs 24 months of age with calves by registered Brangus bulls at side and 5 Brangus breds 24 months of age 7-8 months bred by registered Brangus bulls.  The sale is Feb. 15, 2012 at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition.  See our website for more information. http://www.jasikhayfarms.com/page05.html   Also coming around is the Houston All breed Female sale.  We will post more information on that as it gets closer.

Mean while we have to share a photo of the latest addition to Jasik Hay Farms!  This is our son Barin James Jasik who we hope has an interest in hay and cattle as much as we do!

Until Next Time....
